Sovereign Welcomes New COO to Help Drive Expansion in Middle East

Sovereign Oilfield Group

Plans to further expand Sovereign Oilfield Group's (Sovereign) operations into the Middle East and achieve further growth through acquisitions has led to the appointment of a Group Chief Operating Officer. The role, which will be filled by Chris McGeehan, is seen as being key to Sovereign achieving their expansion targets.

Graham Burgess, Group Chief Executive of Sovereign says, "The appointment of a Group Chief Operating Officer is central to the continued expansion of our services into new areas. The in-depth knowledge and experience that Chris gained while setting up OIL Middle East will be invaluable in ensuring we maintain strategic focus in our next stage of expansion. His technical knowledge combined with his ability to motivate people will be crucial in managing the synergies that exist between the Sovereign Group companies."

Commenting on his appointment Chris McGeehan, Group Chief Operating Officer of Sovereign said, "My initial focus as Group Chief Operating Officer will be to work closer with our subsidiary companies to maintain and enhance customer service and client relationships."

Sovereign provides manufacturing and drilling services to the oil and gas industry in the UK and across the globe via its subsidiaries Sovereign Fabrication Services and Sovereign Drilling Services. Before joining Sovereign, Chris was managing director of Caledonian Petroleum Services (CPS) a manufacturing service company specializing in on and offshore fabrication, well service equipment, project management and manpower services. During his time with CPS, Chris was responsible for leading the organisation through a structured expansion from £3 million to £15 million over a three year period.

Chris joined Sovereign following its acquisition of CPS in 2005. During his four years with Sovereign, Chris has been a key player in the creation and development of OIL Middle East, a subsidiary of Sovereign based in Abu Dhabi. He also played an integral role in a number of Sovereign acquisitions. In his new role, Chris will be responsible for leading a team of over 600 people across Sovereign's subsidiaries.
