Global provider of diversified energy services, Senergy, is strengthening its team within Surrey's energy business hub as a direct response to continuous growth in the region.

Senergy, which has recently been awarded a new contract by production and exploration company JKX Oil & Gas for the provision of subsurface consultancy services, has appointed Andrew Sewell to lead its Guildford office.

A geophysicist with an extensive career with Schlumberger in the UK and internationally in the Middle East and North America, Mr. Sewell most recently held the position as global business development manager for new technologies in the company's seismic acquisition services.

His appointment comes at a time when Senergy has declared its ambition to double the company’s turnover in the next three years through growth across its current UK and international locations and by identifying and progressing acquisition and merger opportunities. Senergy, which operates in 15 locations worldwide in the areas of oil and gas services, survey and geoengineering services and alternative energy, saw its annual turnover in 2009 rise to £70 million.

Andrew will predominantly focus on further developing Senergy's well-established operation in Guildford, exploring local and international opportunities to add to the company’s extensive client base. He will also work closely with Senergy's London team, who are currently managing a number of major integrated projects for clients with assets in West Africa.

Senergy's Guildford team has supported JKX since 1996, and will continue to act as principal subsurface consultant, supporting the company and its subsidiary PPC in the development of mature fields in the Ukraine and Russia with a view to increasing production. In Russia, Senergy is also advising JKX on a field redevelopment project.

In addition to Senergy's Guildford team managing JKX's geology, geophysics and reservoir work, the company's Aberdeen-based Production Technology team has been heavily involved in the design and operation of stimulation tests in reservoirs where production of hydrocarbons is technically challenging. Senergy's London team has also conducted a major geological study of a largely undeveloped Ukrainian asset.

"In the last four years of contracting with Senergy, JKX has seen oil production increase threefold, with gas production also increasing by 20% from what had previously been declining fields. Our focus is now on working with JKX to maintain production at these increased levels," said Mr. Sewell.

"Senergy has played a key role in this success, and the work we have delivered for JKX is a good example of Senergy's integrated service offering and demonstrates how we realize value from assets through the application of technical and commercial innovation.

"It's this innovative, flexible and creative approach that gives Senergy the edge, particularly in the current uncertain global financial environment. It's a time of opportunity and an exciting time to be joining the Senergy team."

James McCallum, CEO, Senergy, said Mr. Sewell will play a key role in building the Guildford business: "Andrew brings extensive experience in the UK and international energy industry, which will transfer well to Senergy's business.

"Surrey has developed into a thriving community for the energy sector, which combined with the industry's London presence, offers significant opportunities for Senergy to explore."
