ExxonMobil Resumes Production at Oso Field

ExxonMobil has resumed production at the Oso terminal in the eastern Niger Delta after a fire shut down operations in April. Full production has not yet been restored, however, the company says that significant progress has been made towards that end.

A fire broke out at the compressor unit of the plant April 29 and the ensuing shutdown cut off production of condensate equivalent to 95,000 barrels a day of crude oil, and production of natural gas liquids equivalent to 45,000 b/d of crude. The Oso platform is located 25 nautical miles offshore from MPN's Qua Iboe export terminal in southeast Nigeria.
