NOV Elmar Expands Oilfield Services into New Markets

Oil equipment manufacturing firm NOV Elmar has announced considerable growth in operations controlled from the firm's Houston site.

The majority of the newly secured work is from additional deals in Latin America and the firm anticipates a 50% increase in sales within the region over the next 12 months. Contracts have also been secured for wireline operations in Alaska which is a new market for the company.

Headquartered in Aberdeen, NOV Elmar is a leading designer and manufacturer of wellhead pressure control equipment with offices and manufacturing sites in Dubai, Houston, Minsk, Perth, Australia and Singapore.

Brian King sales director of NOV Elmar said, "The US is an important market for NOV Elmar. Our products are extremely well respected within the industry and considered by many to be the best in the field. As our clients enter into challenging new regions I am confident we are more than capable of meeting their needs for wireline units, trucks, cranes and pressure control equipment which ensures the safety of their staff."

Contributing to the firm's success is its commitment to continually improving its products. Most recently NOV Elmar launched the NOV Elmar Smart Inject System (SIS), a patented technology which has the potential to revolutionise wireline operations. The SIS is set to begin a final set of strenuous field trials with one of the world’s largest oilfield service providers later this year after being on show at OTC 09.

The NOV Elmar SIS allows the grease injection pressure on a well to be controlled electronically by using a computer chipset, proprietary software and sensors. The SIS can automatically and continuously monitor the variables and adjust as necessary resulting in a more efficient operation, reducing the post job cleanup costs and avoiding the risk of a potentially fatal accident.

"Innovation is essential within our industry and with more than 10% of our workforce dedicated to R&D and engineering we are well placed to continue to deliver world leading solutions to the oil and gas industry," Mr. King continued.

NOV Elmar employs more than 400 people worldwide and is a product group of National Oilwell Varco, a leading provider of oilfield products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry since 1841. The company's headquarters are in Houston, Texas USA and it has more than 100 subsidiaries with over 1,000 sites around the world, employing 36,000 people.
