Lloyd's Register Unveils New O&G Service to Focus on Safety Cultures

Lloyd's Register

A new oil and gas service is being launched in Aberdeen today (Wednesday, May 6) by Lloyd's Register, the global provider of enhanced safety and asset integrity assurance services. The service, Lloyd's Register’s 4sight, is aimed at creating increased focus on safety cultures within the UK.

It is anticipated that the scheme will be UK centric in the first instance with a view to global expansion in the future.

Lloyd's Register has developed 4sight in response to a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) proposal to place greater priority on four critical performance areas and will concentrate on providing a more pro-active approach by businesses prior to planned visits by HSE inspectors. The four critical areas are leadership, asset integrity, competence and safety culture.

Providing a service for asset owners, operators and duty holders, Lloyd’s Register's 4sight will encourage identification of areas that need improvement at an early stage, so that clients can focus activity on critical processes and systems. The service will be delivered by teams across consulting, compliance engineering and integrity services.

A business breakfast is to be held in Aberdeen tomorrow to officially launch 4sight to clients. Steve Danton, Helen Manson and Norman Thomson, of Lloyd's Register's consulting services department in Aberdeen, will present at the breakfast, focusing on the four key areas of performance improvement that have been identified by HSE inspectors.

Steve Danton, who will be leading the 4sight scheme in Aberdeen, said, "This is another initiative by Lloyd's Register to encourage organizations to re-focus on critical safety cultures through informative, direct action that addresses the multiple issues of safety on land, sea and air. 4sight will be a further step in the provision of more integrated services to clients, reflecting a longer term goal of bringing increased value to the whole supply chain network. By addressing safety issues early, ahead of HSE inspections, safety is maximized and ongoing, prolonged problems can be avoided, which in turn leads to improved safety cultures.

He added, "The business breakfast will provide a forum for our clients to better understand and discuss the HSE's four critical areas of performance improvement. It is also a unique opportunity for Aberdeen based businesses to take advantage of 4sight prior to it reaching a more worldwide audience."

The launch of the service by Lloyd's Register is part of a continuing emphasis on business to provide integrated services that will give greater value to clients.
