Baker Energy Wins Algerian Contract from Burlington

Baker Energy has been awarded a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract by Burlington Resources to provide operations and maintenance support personnel for Burlington's oil and gas production facilities in Block 405a of the Sahara Desert in Algeria.

In this connection, the company has opened an office in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria, and will manage this contract from this location as well as pursue additional opportunities in this region.

Under this agreement, Baker will provide a wide range of personnel services to Burlington assisting with pre-operations planning, operability and maintainability reviews of production processes and systems, and competency assurance during the pre-production phase of the MLN project. Baker's personnel will then be providing operational support for the pre- commissioning, commissioning, start-up and long-term operation and maintenance of the production facilities.

"The start-up of MLN represents a significant international milestone for Burlington Resources, and we are pleased that they have selected Baker Energy as a partner in this initiative," Keith Revels, vice president of international operations for Baker Energy, said. "The Sahara Desert presents a challenging operating environment, but one which matches our global operations and maintenance expertise and our many years of experience on the African continent."
