Baker Energy Named a Finalist for MMS SAFE Award for the 4th Time
Baker Energy, a unit of Michael Baker Corporation, announced that the U.S. Department of Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) has recognized Baker's dedication to safe and responsible operations with a fourth consecutive finalist nomination for the National Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE).
In 2006, 2007, 2008, and now 2009, Baker has been nominated as a finalist for the National SAFE Award in the production contractor category; Baker won back-to-back National SAFE Awards in 2006 and 2007.
"This fourth straight nomination is the culmination of our employees' steadfast dedication to safety, health, environment, and compliance," said Baker Energy's Tad LeBlanc, HSE&C vice president.
The SAFE program is designed to recognize and commend operating companies and contractors that expend extra effort to conduct their operations in a safe manner, adhere to all regulatory requirements, employ trained and motivated personnel, and take extra steps to enhance the safety of operations. The SAFE Awards recognize outstanding safety and pollution prevention performance by the offshore industry in four categories: drilling contractor; production contractor; high activity operator; and moderate activity operator.
