New ONGC Offshore Director Aims to Bring Krishna-Godavari Field On Stream
Sudhir Vasudeva has taken over as the Director (Offshore) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) on February 1, 2009. He succeeds N K Mitra who has superannuated on January 31, 2009.
A Chemical Engineer (Gold medalist) and a management graduate, Mr. Sudhir Vasudeva joined ONGC as an executive trainee in the first 1976 batch; after topping in his batch he steadily worked his way up, with majority of his assignments in offshore oil-fields. He has maintained his continuous connect with professional best practices in his field; he was President of Mumbai arm of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Known across ONGC for his team management capabilities, Vasudeva brings not just fresh blood in the ONGC Board, but a fast-track decision making approach. He was steering the Offshore Joint Venture segment of ONGC's operations till now.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vasudeva said that two of his prime agenda would be to improve recovery from the aging Mumbai High field and to bring the Krishna-Godavari offshore field on east coast to production in the shortest possible time. "The engineers and scientists of ONGC some of the most capable oilmen in the world and other things permitting, I am optimistic that ONGC will be able to meet the challenges in offshore production in the next few years."
