Total Reduces Production from Elgin Field

Total has reduced production from its Elgin field in the North Sea by 30% to allow engineers to inspect pipes on the platform. Elgin is not shut but it is running a reduced production, according to a spokesperson from Total. The field is producing three million cubic meters of gas a day and 45,000 barrels of oil per day, about a third of its usual rate. The nearby Franklin field, part of the same complex, has been closed since the weekend because of a problem with a well. Normal daily production from the Elgin/Franklin complex is approximately 14.1 million cubic meters of gas and 145,000 barrels per day of oil.
