Aramark Wins Top Safety Award

The offshore division of Aramark has recently scooped a top safety award. The RoSPA Hotel & Catering Industry Sector award (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) was won for the second consecutive year by the Aberdeen-based company and was presented at a special ceremony on May 22nd in Birmingham.

The award was presented at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at the NEC during Safety & Health Expo 2003, the UK¹s premier health and safety at work exhibition. The President of RoSPA, Lord Faulkner of Worcester, hosted a gala dinner for representatives of award-winning organizations and TV and radio personality Barry Cryer was the guest speaker.

Aramark has previously gained three gold RoSPA awards and this is the second year that the Offshore team has won the RoSPA award for the Hotel & Catering Industry Sector, the top accolade in this category. Susan Elston, Regional Director Offshore, collected the award on behalf of Aramark.

Susan said: "I¹m thrilled to pick up this award. It¹s a significant achievement for the whole team and once again reinforces our commitment to the implementation of a strong safety management system. Our focus on people and structured approach to recruitment and training, as well as monitoring of competency and performance, helped us win the award. It¹s a real team effort."

Divisional Director of Aramark Offshore, Colin Henry, commented: "As service providers in the oil and gas industry we¹re dedicated to providing the best possible health, safety and environmental systems at work for our employees and clients. The Offshore teams have worked extremely hard to ensure these systems are maintained and winning the RoSPA award for the second year in a row is excellent evidence of this."
