Fugro Adds Environmental Studies to its Range of Services

Environmental impact assessments are increasingly called for in advance of offshore exploration and development activities. To meet this demand, Fugro Survey Ltd, UK, has added environmental baseline studies and impact assessments to its range of offshore survey services in NW Europe and off West Africa.

"Our baseline surveys describe features such as seabed sediments, levels of heavy metals, trace metals and hydrocarbons and the biological communities on the seafloor," explained Michelle Yeo, project marine biologist.

A full range of standard seafloor sampling equipment is available, together with underwater digital video and stills imaging systems.

Analysis is undertaken at accredited laboratories, including Fugro's own in-house Robertson Research International facility. Environmental reporting may be incorporated into geophysical survey reports with the inclusion of bathymetry, seabed features, sonar data examples and seabed photography.
