Fugro Names Executive Team
Mark Weber has been named President and Dr. Luiz Braga as Vice President - Global Business Development for Fugro Gravity & Magnetic Services (FGMS), the business development arm of Fugro Airborne Surveys and Fugro Ground Geophysics.
Weber will oversee the new venture that will provide the oil and gas industry with a full spectrum of gravity and magnetic services -- data acquisition and processing, interpretation, software and non-exclusive data -- for land, marine and airborne applications.
Braga will manage the business development activities for a team of experts situated in seven of the major oil and gas centers around the globe: Houston, Calgary, London, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai, Perth and Mexico.
"With more than 50 years of experience and a unique array of technologies, we help our clients reduce their exploration risks by providing value derived from potential fields products," Weber said. "Although these products only cost pennies on the dollar as compared to seismic and drilling, gravity and magnetics are valuable tools for providing geologic solutions, enhancing seismic data and improving drilling efficiency."
Weber, who received a bachelor's degree from the Colorado School of Mines, has been working in the oil and gas industry for more than 20 years on projects in 30 countries. His experience spans from field quality control manager to interpretation geophysicist to executive.
Weber is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the Houston Geologic Society (HGS) and the Geophysical Society of Houston (GSH).
Braga will guide the business development activities on an international basis. He was formerly marketing manager and deputy general manager and credited with developing and enhancing Fugro's airborne geophysical market in South America.
Braga received a Ph.D. in geophysics from Oregon State University and has more than 18 years' experience in the petroleum industry and 27 years’ experience working in earth sciences.
"FGMS provides oil and gas exploration groups not only with high-quality gravity and magnetic data but also commercially meaningful geologic solutions," Braga said. "This is achievable with an outstanding group of potential fields specialists and unique software capable of integrating potential fields to seismic and other geological and geophysical data."
Braga is a founding member of the Brazilian Society of Geophysicists, an active member of SEG and a former member of AAPG and the American Geophysical Union.
