Growler-4 Flows Clean Oil, Tigercat-1 Drilling Ahead in Cooper Basin

Victoria Petroleum N.L. (Vicpet), as Operator for the PEL 104/PRL15 Joint Venture, has advised that following completion as an oil production well, the Growler-4 well on cased hole production test has flowed clean oil to the tanks at a rate of 240 barrels per day.

Growler-4 was completed in the Birkhead Formation sandstone over the 12 meter interval from 1,726 meters to 1,738 meters. The well was still cleaning up when shut in for pressure build up data. The well will initially be free flowed to the Growler Oil Field central production facility but a pump to maintain rates will be installed.

Growler-4 was drilled as a development well on the Growler Oil Field to test the 16 meter oil column discovered in the Jurassic Birkhead Formation in Growler-1. Growler-4 is 400 meters north of Growler-1. Growler-4 is being drilled on 40 acre spacing between Growler-1 and Growler-2.

At the mean reserve estimate level, the Growler structure is mapped as a four way dip closed feature with estimated oil-in-place of 3.9 million barrels and recoverable oil reserve of 1 million barrels.

The Growler Oil Field is now producing 800 BOPD. Growler Oil Field production will be increased to approximately 1,000 BOPD by the end of October when Growler-1 is brought back on line and Growler-4 is tied in to the main production facility.

Vicpet's Managing Director, John Kopcheff, commenting on the cased hole production testing results for Growler-4 said, "Vicpet is pleased to have completed the Growler -4 well as an oil producer following on from the Growler-3 success. Such good results for the two Growler development wells, Growler-3 and Growler-4, are very encouraging for the future development of the Growler Oil Field.

"Vicpet believes that the target of 1,000 barrels of oil per day gross production from the Growler Oil Field is now very achievable.

"The drilling rig that successfully drilled and completed Growler-3 and Growler-4 is now drilling ahead at 1,398 meters at the Tigercat-1 exploration site in the surrounding permit PEL 104, 8 kilometers to the east of the Growler Oil Field production facilities.

The Tigercat-1 target at an anticipated depth of approximately 1,760 meters, is the same Birkhead sandstone oil productive in the Growler Oil Field wells to the west.
