Wood Group ESP Opens New Service Facility in Colombia
Wood Group ESP has opened a new service facility in Bogota, Colombia dedicated to the overhaul, assembly and testing of electric submersible pumps (ESPs). The facility is the first of its kind for Wood Group in the country.
"We have had a presence in Latin America for many years, providing first-class products and services to our clients in Argentina, Ecuador, and Venezuela and are excited to be expanding our resources and capabilities into the Colombian market," said Gary Ford, President of WG ESP.
The construction of this 35,000-plus square-foot structure, which includes an assembly facility and administrative offices, began in February 2008. It is expected to decrease turn-around-time and provide additional service options for local clients, including equipment dismantling and failure analysis, new equipment assembly, spare parts inventory management, surface pumping system (SPS) assembly and repair, variable speed drive (VSD) testing and repair, and power and cable repair. Clients will also have the option to inspect, repair and test units after they have been pulled from wells.
Wood Group ESP currently employs approximately 30 people at its Colombia location and has plans to hire additional field service personnel.
