Seatronics Invests in Equipment in the US

Making a further investment in its Houston base, marine electronic equipment rental specialists Seatronics Inc., an Acteon company, has spent in the region of $2 million on new rental items and equipment from leading US manufacturers and suppliers.

The new equipment, which includes kit such as Marine Magnetics magnetometers, Edgetech subottom profilers, Kongsberg Inc. and Sonardyne Inc. hydro-acoustic positioning systems and Teledyne RDI ADCP instruments, has been purchased to help improve Seatronics’ service to local clients in the USA.
The purchase follows the opening of the company’s new $200,000 calibration laboratory and $50,000 cable moulding facilities at its Houston base in July 2008. These facilities have nearly doubled the size of Seatronics’ US operations. The calibration laboratory is the first of its kind in the USA, providing local services for equipment that would otherwise need to go overseas.
So far the new facilities have proved very successful, with several clients taking up the services on the first day.
Erik McGuire, vice president, Seatronics Inc., said, “We’re committed to our work in the USA and this new equipment shows that we are investing there. The calibration lab and moulding facilities have already led to the creation of three jobs, with more on the way if business increases as predicted.
“By augmenting our rental pool and expanding our range of services we are becoming a solutions provider for our US customers.”
