Chinese Foreign Minister Visits Turkmenistan to Discuss Gas Project
On August 30, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi paid a visit to CNPC Amu Darya River Natural Gas Corporation, accompanied by Lu Guicheng, Chinese Ambassador to Turkmenistan.
During his stay, Yang was informed about the exploration, production, major progress and development plan of the Amu Darya River project by Lu Gongxun, head of the CNPC Turkmenistan coordination group and general management of Amu Darya River Natural Gas Corporation. Lu also expressed thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy to Turkmenistan for their help and support.
Yang spoke of the positive results achieved by President Hu Jintao's visit to Turkmenistan, and pointed to the significance of gas cooperation between the two countries. He also highly appreciated CNPC's reception of President Hu's delegation.
Finally, Yang stressed that the Amu Darya River gas project should play a leading role in promoting Sino-Turkmen relations on the basis of the joint statement signed by President Hu Jintao and President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan will offer unwavering support to the gas project, lifting Sino-Turkmen gas cooperation to a higher level.
