Shell Plans to Evacuate Platforms if Hurricane Gustav Enters GOM
The Shell Hurricane Incident Command Team has convened and is monitoring Hurricane Gustav.
Given the current track for Gustav and the expectation that it might enter the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, Shell is making logistical arrangements to evacuate staff who are not essential to production or drilling operations. Evacuations could begin as early as Wednesday. There is no impact on production at this time.
Shell's priorities are ensuring the safety of personnel, protecting the environment and minimizing production and operational impact. To find out more about our hurricane preparedness and evacuation and shut in procedures, please visit the Shell Storm Center.
The team will continue to monitor weather reports and respond accordingly.
