Forest Oil Appoints New President of Canadian Business Unit

Forest Oil Corporation has announced the appointment of David M. Anderson as President -- Canadian Forest Oil Ltd. (CFOL), effective immediately. In this position, Anderson will be responsible for managing all aspects of Forest's Canadian Business Unit.

Anderson previously worked for CFOL from August 1998 until April 2006 as Production Engineer, Project Manager, and Exploitation Manager in Calgary. In addition to his experience at CFOL, Anderson has held engineering, engineering management, and general management positions with Norcen Energy Resources, Pinnacle Resources Ltd., and Kereco Energy Ltd. during his more than sixteen years in the industry. He most recently held the position of Development Manager, Libya, for Verenex Energy, Inc.

James R. Good, the previous President of CFOL, is retiring. Good joined CFOL on July 1, 1996 as Vice President, Exploration and had served as President since April 2002. He will remain with CFOL as the position is transitioned to Anderson.

H. Craig Clark, President and CEO, stated, "We are grateful to Jim for his more than twelve years of dedicated service and for his leadership as President of CFOL for the past six years. We wish Jim the best in his retirement as well as welcome David back to Forest as the head of CFOL."

Forest further announced today that it has applied to the applicable securities regulatory authorities in Canada for an order that it is not a reporting issuer in Canada. As a reporting issuer under applicable Canadian securities laws, the Company is subject to Canadian filing and disclosure requirements in addition to those applicable under U.S. securities laws and stock exchange requirements. If the order is granted, Forest will no longer be a reporting issuer in any jurisdiction in Canada.
