SMT, the leader for Windows-based geoscientific interpretation software, today announced the opening of its Calgary office and the appointment of Brian Kulbaba as Account Manager, SMT Canada Operations. In celebration of the expansion into Canada, Kulbaba and several SMT management team members will host a sneak preview in Calgary of the company’s upcoming release of KINGDOM 8.3.
Commenting on the announcement, Bill Stephenson, Sr. V.P. Sales-Americas, who will oversee the Calgary operations, said, “Canada is a natural growth prospect for SMT, and Brian will play a critical role in our plans to expand our global reach into this region. With over 10 years in sales and business development, many of them in the Canadian E&P industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the new office.”
Randi Christiansen, SMT customer and Sr. Geophysicist of First Calgary Petroleum said, “We have worked with several other seismic software programs, yet we find SMT's KINGDOM more intuitive and user friendly. It is critical for us to integrate our geophysical and geological data; KINGDOM enables us to do that.”
“The opening of SMT's office in Calgary demonstrates the company’s commitment to their Canadian customers. Having sales and support present in Calgary, is great news!” added Christiansen.
“SMT recognizes that the industry is increasingly exploring unconventional plays, like the Canadian oil sands, and needs advanced interpretation capabilities. They will be excited to see what our new release offers for these new areas of exploration,” said Indy Chakrabarti, Sr. Director of Marketing of SMT.
