COSCO-KOMAC Design Centre Kicks Off Operations
The COSCO-KOMAC (CK) Design Centre announced formal commencement of operations in Dalian on July 10, 2008, with its organization, workplace and designers ready for operation.
Dr. Dong-Shik Shin, Chairman of Korea Maritime Consultants Co. Ltd (KOMAC), and Mr. Wang Xingru, President of COSCO Shipyard Group, attended the ceremony. During the ceremony, Dr. Shin kindly donated 50,000RMB, through COSCO Shipyard, to people in the Sichuan earthquake area.
Outstanding cooperation between KOMAC and COSCO Shipyard Group is sure to be a win-win strategy for both companies, especially in the areas of technology improvement and market expansion. The General Manager of the CK Design Centre, Mr. Kim Young Chul, stressed his resolve and confidence that they would make CK Design Centre the first class ship design centre in the world.
Dr. Shin and Mr. Zhou Xiedong, Party Secretary of COSCO Shipyard Group, promised both parties would contribute their strength to the growth of the CK Design Centre.
So far, the CK Design Centre has already carried out design research on a 3300TEU Container Ship, 4900TEU Container Ship, 7400TEU Container Ship, 75kdwt Oil Tanker, 113kdwt Oil Tanker, and 50kdwt Open Hatch Bulk Carrier, and basic & detailed design of a Shuttle Tanker simultaneously.
