STOS Completes Kapuni-16 Well
Shell Todd Oil Services Ltd has finished drilling Kapuni-16, the first exploratory well drilled in the 30 year-old New Zealand onshore Taranaki field since 1991. The well was drilled to appraise the areas on the eastern flank of the field.
The Parker Drilling 188 rig reached a TD of 4064 m in mid-March within the Eocene-aged Mangahewa Formation. After logging, cement plugs were set at 3740-4064 meters and 1260-1695 meters.
Todd Energy chief executive Richard Tweedie said that well data was still being reviewed and he did not expect STOS to release further information until the review was completed.
