Fugro Expands Capability in Deepwater Market
New Hugin AUV for the Asia Pacific Market
Fugro has placed an order with Kongsberg for a 3rd Hugin Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) with delivery during fourth quarter 2008. This is the third unit that Fugro has acquired and it will be stationed at its Far East facilities in Singapore to address the growing deep water market in the Asia Pacific region. Naming Ceremony for Fugro Saltire ROV Vessel
The naming ceremony of Fugro's latest ROV and construction support vessel Fugro Saltire took place on 26th April at Bergen Mekaniske Verksted (BMV) Shipyard in Bergen, Norway. The state-of-the-art vessel successfully completed sea trials prior to the christening and will now move to Kristiansand in southern Norway for installation of its crane system. With a length of 110 meters, breadth of 24 meters and accommodation for up to 105, the DNV +1A1 class vessel is equipped with a Simrad SDP21 system interfaced to the Fugro Seastar DGPS, two Simrad HiPAP500 USBL acoustic systems, Seapath 200 and a Fanbeam laser system.
Dual Fugro work-class FCV3000 ROV systems will be deployed from the integrated ROV hangar via hydraulically operated doors on either side of the vessel, and purpose built Launch & Recovery Systems (LARS) designed to minimize the effects of vessel motion. At he heart of the vessel is an integrated ROV control and survey management center to control and operate the ROV and survey systems. Overlooking the deck there is an operations room for the exclusive use of client representatives and engineers.
When ready for service in early June, the vessel will have a 150T knuckle-boom crane with active heave compensation, capable of operating to 3000 meters, and a 10T auxiliary subsea crane. The main deck (>1,000m2) with 10T/m² deck loading and working moon pool measuring 7.2 x 7.2 meters situated immediately aft of the hanger area, are available for the exclusive use of Fugro's clients. With additional dedicated 500kVA power, fuel, water and air supply points around the deck, the facilities are in place to support a wide variety of client's construction, intervention, maintenance and pipelay support spreads.
