Alvheim FPSO Receives Acknowledgement of Compliance
On 14 March 2008, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) granted an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for Alvheim FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading -- mobile production facility). The facility is operated by Maersk Contractors Norge AS (MCN).
Alvheim FPSO is a former tanker (then called MST ODIN) which the operating company Marathon Petroleum Company Norway (MPC) has rebuilt into an FPSO. MCN applied for an Acknowledgement of Compliance for the facility, and will be responsible for its operation during the production phase.
Alvheim and relevant parts of MCN's organization and management systems have been evaluated and are considered to be in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements for the petroleum activities.
The AoC decision is based on the information provided in the application regarding the technical condition of the facility and the applicant's organization and management systems, as well as the authorities' verifications and other case processing activities.
The evaluation has been made in line with the PSA's "Guidelines for application for Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC)," issued on 1 July 2006.
The validity of this AoC presumes that MCN will ensure that the facility and relevant parts of the company's organization and management systems are maintained, so as to safeguard compliance with the conditions and assumptions in the PSA's decision.
