Qserv Celebrates Five Star Rating for Health and Safety
Qserv, the specialist well and pipeline service company based in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, has achieved a 5 star grading following an audit from the British Safety Council.
The health and safety management system audit scores a company in five categories, namely, safety organisation, management control systems, fire control systems, measurement and control systems and workplace implementation. Qserv achieved a score of 96.6%, thus gaining the 'five star grading as 'excellent.'
David Staniforth, HSEQ manager at Qserv, was recently presented with a certificate by Brian Nimick, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council in front of more than 100 health and safety experts at the British Safety Council ceremony at Lincoln's Inn, London.
A British Safety Council auditor highlighted a number of areas in which Qserv excelled, including, successfully developing and integrating a safety culture which is clearly supported by the managing director and senior management. The company was also noted as having a strong commitment to continual improvement and being leaders within the offshore working environment. Qserv's proactive approach to training and effective methods of consultation and communication with its staff were also commended.
Certification from the British Safety Council is the latest in a number of safety awards secured by Qserv. In 2007, the company won its fourth consecutive International Safety Award from the British Safety Council and in the same year triumphed in the Safety category at the Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards.
Qserv managing director, Tommy Dreelan said: "Achieving the five star rating has cemented our position as industry leaders in health and safety. We maintain and operate a stringent integrated HSEQ management system and since the company was founded in November 2001, we continue to build and improve on those practices."
David Staniforth said: "Receiving the certificate is a great achievement as the audit focuses not only on regulatory compliance but also company best practice, management systems and practical implementation. Creating a truly safe working environment is part of our mission and this latest accolade shows that we are striving to achieve this. Our employees make health and safety the highest priority for all company business and without their support and effort this award would not have been possible."
"I hope other companies will take the lead from Qserv and forge the way towards a safer future with a 5 star award."
