Baker Energy Wins Mad Dog & Holstein Contracts from BP
Baker Energy has been awarded a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract from BP America, Inc., a division of BP, to provide various operations and maintenance services for its Mad Dog and Holstein oil and gas production facilities in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
Under this agreement, Baker will develop operating procedures and implement a computerized maintenance management system for these two SPAR-design floating production facilities. In addition, the company will provide more than 50 skilled personnel to assist in the operation and maintenance of the facilities which, when fully operational in 2004, will provide a substantial portion of BP's production in the deepwater region of the Gulf of Mexico. With this contract, Baker Energy solidifies its position as the single largest provider of skilled technicians for the floating production facilities used in the deepwater region of the Gulf of Mexico. Also, this agreement enables Baker Energy to extend its experience of providing services critical to the initial startup and commissioning process of these types of highly complex facilities.
"We are pleased that BP has selected us for this challenging deepwater assignment," Dick Giffhorn, president of Baker Energy, said. "The deepwater represents the growth area for oil and gas production in the Gulf, and this only confirms that Baker has the people, experience, technology and innovative solution capabilities to support our customers' growth initiatives."
