Dive Support Vessel Explodes in GOM
Coast Guard aircrews medevacuated six crewmember's to local hospitals after an explosion occurred aboard the 150-foot motor vessel, Jillian Morrison, approximately 15-miles south of Marsh Island, La.
The Coast Guard was notified by the captain aboard the Jillian Morrison, last night, that an explosion occurred and six people were injured. The Coast Guard launched two HH65-C Dolphin rescue helicopter crews from Air Station New Orleans and one from Coast Guard Air Station Houston.
Four crewmembers were medevacuated to Our Lady of Lourdes Trauma Center in Lafayette, La., and two others were medevacuated to Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma, La.
Conditions of the crewmembers are unknown.
The Coast Guard Cutter Pelican, an 87-foot, patrol boat is en-route to the scene.
Air Station New Orleans is currently conducting a search for one unaccounted crewmember reported to be in the water.
The incident is under investigation. The vessel is owned by Chet Morrison Contractors of Houma.
