Thrustmaster Signs $13 Million Contract with Gulmar
Thrustmaster of Texas, Inc. has contracted to deliver a complete DP-2 Portable Dynamic Positioning System (PDPS) for service on the pipelay barge, Gulmar Pelican. The system will use Kongsberg's proven K-POS 21 for dual redundancy.
Thrustmaster's Portable Dynamic Positioning System is designed for use where it is desirable to quickly convert to DP without having to drydock the vessel. The thrusters and HPU's can be installed dockside as well as be removed or stored for later use on another vessel.
Each thruster is tested and delivered with its own 2000 HP (1500kW) containerized air cooled diesel Hydraulic Power Unit for mounting on the barge deck. Thrustmaster will also provide engineering and design for the hull mounted support and pads, supervision of installation, and on-site commissioning.
This event marks Thrustmaster's order for the 25th 2000 HP thruster along with 68 integrated DP systems for OSV's, pipe and cable lay barges, accommodation barges, semi-submersible rigs, and FPSO applications.
