NOPEF Workers Stage One-Day Strike

The Action Day was a great success, says NOPEF-president Leif Sande. We expressed clearly what we think about today's policy and information about the strike was published in the mass media. Sande thanks all who took part in the strike. 40,000 trade unionists in the oil and shipyard industry and other industries went on a three hour long political strike on Friday 28th February in protest against the Government's passive industrial policy.

Shop stewards and members from Fellesforbundet, NOPEF, OFS, Norges Ingeniørorganisasjon (NITO), Lederne, EL & IT (Rogaland), Forbundet for ledelse og teknikk, Privatansattes Fellesorganisasjon (Prifo) took part in the strike.

The strike was marked several places in the country in addition to Stavanger – Egersund, Haugesund, Mongstad, Trondheim Rissa and Harstad.

On the Saipem-operated semisubmersible, Scarabeo 6, the drilling stopped for three hours, while the crew was on strike.
