Ten New Positions Beefs Up Red Spider Nest

Ten new positions have been created by innovative oil and gas design company Red Spider Technology. The new posts are part of a continued expansion of the company's operations both domestically and internationally. The move follows a recent U.S. $4.9 million venture capital investment. Recruitment for the newly-created positions which include roles in global business development and engineering as well as offshore and workshop opportunities begins immediately. The majority of the new staff will be housed at Red Spider's new global headquarters in Westhill, which are due to be completed in the second quarter of 2008.

"This move comes as a direct consequence of the promotion of a number of existing staff into newly-created roles," Chris Oliver, managing director of Red Spider said. "We also recognize the need to continue to strengthen our team right across the board as we look to continue to build on our growth and the strength of our reputation both at home and abroad.

"These are exciting opportunities, especially at senior level," Oliver went on. "For instance, Irvine Brown, one of the original founding directors, has been appointed to a new role as Norwegian regional manager. As a result, we have a requirement for the highest caliber of engineering manager; someone who espouses our distinct company values. These types of vacancies don’t come up too often within the industry, so we expect to receive a lot of interest in them.

"Red Spider started in 2004 with just four staff in Aberdeen and now, only four years later, we will soon have 46 'spiders' worldwide," Oliver continued. "The aim over the next five years is to have 150 employees globally, with half of those being based here in Aberdeenshire."
