Lloyd's Register Makes Two Significant Oil & Gas Appointments

The Lloyd's Register Group has made two significant appointments to support its growth in the oil and gas sector. Tim Walsh has been appointed as Oil & Gas General Manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Ron Edgar as Floating Offshore Installations (FOI) Global Manager for their Oil & Gas business. These new appointments reinforce Lloyd's Register's commitment to be the leading provider of technical assurance services to the oil and gas industry.

Tim Walsh, previously Compliance Services Manager for EMEA, will continue to be based in Aberdeen and will form a crucial part of the global Oil & Gas management team.

EMEA Director Paul Huber says: "I am delighted to announce Tim Walsh has been appointed as the General Manager for the vitally important EMEA Oil & Gas operations. There has never been such a pressure on human skill capital, and our resources in EMEA will play an increasingly important role in recruiting and supporting our developing Oil & Gas hubs in Asia and America. One of Tim's key objectives is to develop and implement the Oil & Gas strategy and delivery options for the Middle East and Africa."

Tim Walsh said: "This is a very exciting time for Oil & Gas within Lloyd's Register and I am greatly looking forward to working with Paul Huber, Iain Light (Oil & Gas Director) and colleagues across the world to take our business forward. Our priorities for Oil & Gas in EMEA are to consolidate our position in the North Sea market, develop other target areas in the region and support the global Oil & Gas growth strategy."

Ron Edgar, currently Integrity Services Manager in Aberdeen, will move to Singapore as the FOI Global Manager to strengthen Lloyd's Register's position in the area and to work more closely with their primary customers. He will also form part of the Oil & Gas Asia management team.

Iain Light says: "This market is a top priority for Lloyd's Register and Ron will report directly to me. He is the ideal candidate as he has successfully grown our integrity services side of the business in recent years. It is important that we listen closely to our clients and also acknowledge that Asia is playing a vital and increasingly important role in the energy world."

"Floating offshore installations are central to the future growth of our Oil & Gas business" says Ron Edgar and he continues "with my seagoing background these units have been an interest of mine for many years. This is a unique opportunity to bring together the combined strengths of our Marine and Oil & Gas businesses and bring together all our regional entities so we can work together on a truly global initiative."

Ron Edgar is very enthusiastic about his move and concludes: 'Whilst my time in Aberdeen has been challenging and enjoyable, the opportunity to lead this programme was one I could not turn down. I will be looking forward to heading up what I see as a crucial part of Lloyd's Register's worldwide business expansion plans."

Lloyd's Register's Oil & Gas business is currently going through a rigorous strategy process led by Iain Light which involves senior managers from all three of their main regions--EMEA, Asia and Americas. Tim Walsh and Ron Edgar are vital figures being involved in the process to ensure the long term sustained growth of Lloyd's Register in the oil and gas industry.
