Expro Named Subsea Co of the Year
International oilfield service company Expro has won the coveted 'Subsea Company of the Year' award at the Subsea UK Business Awards 2008.
The award recognises excellence and achievement in the subsea industry. Expro received the award in recognition of its national and international reputation, commitment to safety and the environment, technical excellence, and commitment to staff development and training.
The presentation, in front of more than 650 industry leaders and guests, was made by Andrew Humphryes, project development manager with E.ON Rhurgas, at last night's prestigious ceremony at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
As the international market leader in key subsea technologies, including subsea landing strings, valve technology and connection and measurements systems, the company has been involved in many successful developments across the world. While Expro's global growth continues, the UK North Sea remains a major part of Expro's subsea business, with recent successes including the BP Clair project, which saw the world's first successful application of Expro's award-winning Cableless Telemetry System (CaTS) for the monitoring of the reservoir pressure and temperature response in an abandoned subsea well.
Expro's commitment to the subsea sector is taking a step change with major investment in the development of AX-S, a rigless intervention system which will allow wireline intervention from vessels and will be capable of operating in deepwater environments, further strengthening Expro's position as a leading innovator in subsea technology.
Expro's products are fundamental in providing safe operating environments for the development of subsea wells. Last year the company recorded a significant safety achievement by completing five million man hours without a lost time incident across its entire worldwide operations, and recently received its second successive RoSPA award for health and safety performance--a first for an upstream service provider.
Graeme Coutts, Expro's Chief Executive Officer, said: "Being named subsea company of the year is a great achievement for Expro and is testament to the hard work, commitment and professionalism of each member of our team across the company.
"Our ability to develop innovative technology and solutions has allowed the industry as a whole to take on more challenging projects in deeper and harsher environments. The subsea industry is experiencing very exciting times and we are proud to be part of that growth. We will continue to invest in the development of our people and our technologies to ensure that Expro continues to offer the industry the most advanced solutions in this increasingly challenging sector."
Expro recently put in place a three-year programme of Excellence in Operations, focusing on safety, service quality and customer care, with the clear aim of being recognised as the industry leaders in delivering operational excellence to its customers.
