UK North Sea J-Block Oil, Gas Fields Shut on Glitch
Oil and gas production at the J-Block fields in the U.K. North Sea has been shut down due to an operational problem, but should return to full production within the next couple of days, a spokeswoman for operator of the fields ConocoPhillips (COP) said Thursday.
The unspecified problem at the Judy platform, through which other ConocoPhillips fields Jade and Joanne also send their oil and gas, is currently being investigated, she said.
The Judy platform was shut down 1100 GMT Tuesday.
The Janice field operated by Kerr-McGee also feeds gas through Judy, the spokeswoman said.
The J-Block fields and Janice combined produced 9.8 million cubic meters of gas a day and around 51,500 barrels a day of oil in September 2007, the most recent month for which U.K. government production figures are available.
The gas from these fields arrives in the U.K. via the CATS pipeline at Teesside in the northeast of England. Oil from the fields feeds into the Ekofisk pipeline system, which also makes landfall at Teesside.
