AMEC Awarded U.S.$319 Million Contract Extension in Kuwait

AMEC plc, the international engineering and project management company, has had a major project management consultancy services contract renewed by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). The contract is worth approximately U.S.$319 million (92,999,522KWD) over the next five years.

The contract covers consultancy services in project management, front-end engineering and related activities for KOC's upstream oil and gas assets in Kuwait. It continues the work carried out under a previous project management and engineering contract, which ran from 2004 to 2007.

With a major emphasis on health, safety and the environment, AMEC's work will help KOC deliver its strategy to achieve optimum capacity in its oilfields and to improve its facilities by 2020.

"We are delighted to continue to support KOC on this exciting and complex programme of work," said Neil Bruce, Chief Operating Officer, AMEC's Natural Resources business. "It confirms our position as a major project manager in the Middle East where we already have well-established oil and gas operations."

The Chairman and Managing Director of KOC, Sami Al-Rashaid, said: "This contract is essential to support KOC's comprehensive on-going programme of major projects and is considered critical to the day-to-day business and future development of the Company's facilities."

Working closely with KOC personnel, AMEC will continue to manage KOC capital projects in Kuwait, where KOC is developing new oil fields and expanding the existing fields. AMEC will provide project management, co-ordination, planning, design, engineering, construction management, contracting, procurement, project controls and other services for the construction of new facilities, upgrading of existing facilities, and the transfer of technology.
