HB Rentals Returns to North Alwyn with Total

Demand for high-standard offshore accommodation that meets the North Sea's stringent safety regulations has landed global leader HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services company, a new deal with Total.

The French oil and gas major has rented one of HB Rentals' industry-leading fleet of engineering cabins, approved for use in a zone 1 hazardous area on the North Alwyn platform around 270 miles north-east of Aberdeen.

HB Rentals' 20ft x 8ft engineering modules, which meet the latest SOLAS and IMO standards, have the smallest footprint of their kind in the industry and can be modified internally to suit almost any purpose offshore.

Total will use the unit as a parallel office space for use by contractors from Bureau Veritas and RBG. The firm has previously provided a similar cabin to the North Alwyn, which celebrated its 20th anniversary of first oil production in 2007. HB Rentals also continue with an existing contract to support Total (CPTL) in Libya with the supply of two A60 fire rated cabins, complete with pressurization, fire and gas detection systems.

Mark Slater, business development manager at HB Rentals in Aberdeen, said: "Total, who we have worked with at North Alwyn in recent years, required a high-standard unit with a very short lead time – we were able to mobilize this cabin from stock within 24 hours.

"Our global fleet has been built on the high standards developed in the North Sea, with zone 1 and A60 fire rating synonymous with our customizable engineering cabins, so we are able to provide fast delivery while meeting all of the client's needs and adhering to strict industry regulations."

HB Rentals is the world's largest unique supplier of temporary on and offshore accommodation modules, operating from three major global hubs in Broussard, Louisiana, US; Aberdeen, Scotland and Singapore.

The global specialist includes the European, American, South East Asian and Australasian operations of the former Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which it acquired in January 2007.
