QCI Wins Contract from Duffy & McGovern
Duffy & McGovern Accommodation Services has awarded a contract to QCI Marine Offshore, LLC of Houston, Texas, to design and build ten - eight bed accommodation modules consisting of two, four-bed staterooms with en-suite bathrooms. The units will measure 10' wide by 10' tall and 40' long and will be designed with simple 'plug & play' type connections for ease of hook-up.
In addition to en-suite bathrooms, the staterooms provide an unprecedented level of comfort. The cabins will be fitted with individually controlled air conditioning units, pneumatically controlled fire dampers, A60 fire rated external bulkheads and decks, and most importantly, the ability to interconnect to additional units both vertically and horizontally via an internal corridor.
Craig Russell, Commercial Director of Duffy & McGovern was excited about this new build program." Many Exploration & Production companies remain unaware that recent changes in the US Coast Guard regulations governing offshore accommodation mean that their fleet may not meet the new standards". He went on to say: "Our relationship with QCI provides us with a Made in America fleet and demonstrates our ability to produce innovative, world-leading solutions to offshore accommodation needs on a global scale."
The units will be designed and built to meet the latest Mobil Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) requirements by the U.S. Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) including the new FTP Code requirements. One unit will be displayed at this years Offshore Technology Conference (OTC # 5967) in Houston the first week of May. The remaining units will be delivered by July 2003.
