HB Rentals Ticks the Boxes for KCA Deutag in Baku

Offshore specialist HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services Company, is to supply drilling and engineering specialist KCA Deutag with a new high-specification module which brings the high standards of safety developed in the UKCS to Azerbaijan.

A customizable 20ft x 8ft engineering cabin is being specially-built for KCA and will undertake a four-week journey from HB Rentals' Aberdeen base to Baku, before being installed on the Shah Deniz platform in the ACG region.

The Zone 1, DNV 2-7.1 and A60 fire-rated cabin is pressurized in order to create a safe environment for technicians who will be working on specialist equipment designed to streamline the manufacturing of hydraulic hose assemblies.

Due to environmental conditions in the region, the unit is fitted with heating and cooling systems and has an integral fire and gas monitoring control and shutdown system, linked to the central control room on the platform.

HB Rentals' production manager, Reinhardt Schoeman, said: "Due to the flexible design of our engineering cabins, carrying out custom installation work to accommodate the equipment being used on the Shah Deniz was quick and simple while meeting the standards required by KCA Deutag.

"Our experienced workforce's ability to make these modifications at short notice significantly reduces the timeframe needed to prepare the accommodation and put it into the transit process between Aberdeen and Baku.

"The global oil and gas exploration and production workforce is demanding higher standards in all regions – standards which we have helped to set through the introduction on a rental basis of our high specification modules in every major oil and gas region."

HB Rentals is the world's largest unique supplier of temporary on and offshore accommodation modules, operating from three major global hubs in Broussard, Louisiana, US; Aberdeen, Scotland and Singapore.

The global specialist includes the European, American, South East Asian and Australasian operations of the former Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which it acquired in January 2007.
