Esso Drills Duster on Sleipner Ost
Esso Exploration and Production Norway A/S has completed the drilling of wildcat well 16/7-8 S in Production License 072 B. The well was drilled in a structure approximately 4 kilometers southeast of Sleipner Ost and 3 kilometers north of Sigyn.
The main purpose of the well was to test a Triassic prospect. The well was drilled to a total depth of 2622 meters below the sea surface and completed in Triassic Age rocks. No hydrocarbons were found in the well, which has now been plugged and abandoned.
The well was drilled by the Odfjell's semisub, Deepsea Bergen, which will now sail to its next location at the Norne Field.
