TGS Reaches 5 Millionth Log
This week, the Geological Products and Services division of TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company added the five millionth log to its online well collection, LOG-LINE Plus! The milestone is another industry first for the company, alongside format innovations and search and delivery technologies.
The LOG-LINE Plus! inventory is growing at an accelerating pace, with thousands of new logs added each day. Of the five million logs in the existing inventory, the largest segment is data for nearly every released well in the United States. However, a growing share of that number is from wells located outside North America, including significant recent additions in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, The Netherlands and Peru. At press time, the inventory contained more than 300,000 international well logs from 21 countries.
"Our pursuit of comprehensive data coverage has been deliberate and consistent along with our continued focus on high data quality and innovative delivery technologies," stated Dave Kotowych, president TGS Geological Products and Services. "LOG-LINE Plus! has been online 10 years, and our commitment to growing the digital database has been strategic. This commitment will continue as we pursue new geographic regions and higher-value data formats for addition to the industry’s premier well log data collection."
TGS specializes in the design, acquisition and processing of multi-client seismic surveys worldwide and delivers advanced high-performance seismic imaging and software solutions.
