MCS Adds Pipeline Services to Portfolio

MCS has added to its expanding array of subsea capabilities with a comprehensive pipeline service.

The global subsea engineering company has appointed Angus Reid as Pipeline Team Leader, based in Aberdeen, to promote and further develop the company's expertise and experience in all aspects of offshore pipeline design, including subsea tie-back developments, arctic and deepwater fields and landfalls.

Reid brings 12 years experience in offshore pipeline and geotechnical engineering including challenging deepwater pipeline projects in West Africa, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and the Mediterranean. He joins MCS from Shell and has also worked for Intec Engineering Inc, JP Kenny A/S and ABB Offshore Systems.

MCS has recently undertaken several pipeline projects for clients including Shell, Shanghai Petroleum, BP and Total in South America, West Africa, South-east Asia and the North Sea, West of Shetland. These projects include corrosion assessments, rigid pipeline engineering, production flowline analysis, subsea tie-back conceptual study, integrity management and pipe-lay analysis.

Mr Reid says: "Over the last 18 months we have made a series of strategic appointments to build our pipeline and subsea capability. We now offer a multi-discipline team across our network of offices with unrivalled knowledge and expertise in all areas of pipeline, flow assurance and subsea engineering.

The subsea tie-back industry continues to grow in all the major oil and gas regions of the world. With MCS's reputation for quality, excellence and innovation, our experienced personnel and cutting edge software we are in a position to provide advanced subsea engineering solutions to our clients. The trend towards fast-track developments and slim client engineering teams drives the importance of integrated subsea teams who are able to understand the complete picture, the importance of meeting schedule and the complex balance of upfront CAPEX versus long term OPEX costs."
