Nini-4 Appraisal Well Successful
DONG Exploration and Production A/S has completed the Nini-4 (5605/10-4) appraisal well in the Danish sector of the North Sea. The well was drilled with the jackup ENSCO 70.
The well was spudded November 21, 2002 in approximately 193 feet of water and is located approximately 1 mile southwest of the Nini oil accumulation in a similar geological setting.
Nini-4 was drilled as a vertical well to a depth of 1849 meters below mean sea level and reached total depth in chalk of presumed Danian age. The well confirmed the presence of oil in Paleogene sandstones. A side-track was made to the water leg in order better to establish the extent of the accumulation.
The License Group now has 6 months to evaluate the results of the well and to incorporate the new accumulation in the already initiated development of the Nini field, which has a planned production start August 2003
The well is now plugged and abandoned. Subsequently ENSCO 70 will be moved to the west in the Norwegian-Danish Basin to drill the appraisal well Cecilie-2 in the Cecilie field.
The companies in License 4/95 are DONG as operator with 40%; RWE-Dea with 30% and Denerco Oil with 30%.
