PetroSouth Appoints New President

PetroSouth's Board of Directors has named Juan Carlos Robles as the company's president.

Robles brings more than 20 years of success in the oil and gas industry as proven oil executive and petroleum geologist involved in exploration, drilling and production activities throughout Colombia.

He has worked with British Petroleum, Shell's Hocol S.A., and the Amoco Colombia Petroleum Company where he served as Operation Geologist, Chief of Exploration Operations, and Explorations Coordinator for both on-shore and off-shore basins.

As an independent geologist, Robles has been directly involved in the discovery of numerous significant oil fields throughout Colombia including the Laurita (in Hupecol's Tambaqui Block, in 2000), Jaguar (in Hupecol's Caracara Block, in 2002), Toruno (in Petrocolombia's Mapuiro Block, in 2005), Carupana (in Winchester's Yamu Block, in 2005), Ocumo (in CEL's Oropendola Block, in 2005), Careto (in Montecz's Cubiro Block, in 2006), and Arauco (in Montecz's Cubiro Block, in 2007) fields.

Juan Carlos Robles is a Geology graduate of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and holds a post graduate degree in digital image processing and pattern recognition from the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) in the Netherlands. He is a certified geologist with the Professional Geological Board of Colombia and is an active member of the Colombian Association of Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists.
