Swiber Appoints New VP for Brunei Operations
Swiber Holdings has appointed Mr. Joseph Chen Hin Tin as its new Vice President for Swiber’s Brunei operations.
The appointment of the 54-year old Brunei resident is strategically timed to help Swiber secure a significant foothold in Brunei – one of Swiber’s key growth initiatives.
Swiber has been forging deep links with Brunei. On 13 February 2007, Swiber clinched its first and single largest offshore installation contract in Brunei, totalling US$146.6 million, with international oil giant, Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd1.
Shortly after on 19 April 2007, Swiber registered a branch office in Brunei to facilitate the Group’s operations in Brunei and, in the long run, establish and strengthen business relationship with Brunei2.
In his role as Vice President, Brunei, one of Mr Chen’s key tasks will be to scale-up Swiber’s Brunei operations. He will drive the development of future regional operations and support the Group’s focus on regional expansion, strategic alliances and activities in the Asia Pacific and Middle East markets.
“Joseph’s extensive working experience in Brunei will be extremely valuable to us. Joseph brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Brunei market. We have every confidence that he’ll bring the same success he has done previously for other companies to Swiber, as we strive to establish ourselves as a world-class offshore oil and gas service provider, particularly in the Asia Pacific region,” commented Mr. Raymond Goh, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Swiber.
Mr. Chen most recently served as Business Development Manager in a Brunei-based civil and mechanical construction company, where he played a key role in spearheading the company’s long-term business developments. Prior to this, he held various administration and business management positions in several regional companies in Brunei.
He holds a Master of Business Administration Degree, University of Southern Cross, Australia (Best Graduand) and a Business Diploma in Industrial Administration, School of Accountancy and Business Studies, UK.
