Conoco's Vixen natural gas field in the U.K. North Sea is on a fast-track and is expected to start production in October 2000. The Vixen field was previously named E-Plus and is located in Block 49/17. The Vixen Field contains 117 billion standard cubic feet of recoverable gas and has an estimated production life of 6 years. However, studies indicate that with optimal reservoir management and development, the field can potentially yield significant additional natural gas production over a 13 year lifespan. Ensco's jackup, Ensco 80 will drill the production well and install the subsea tree over the next few weeks with remaining construction activities being completed over the summer to allow for production in October. Conoco is the operator and holds a fifty percent interest and BP Amoco holds the other fifty percent.
