Subsea 7 to Provide i-Trench Services to Canyon Offshore
i-Trench is an integrated asset solution able to perform all phases of a seabed preparation and trenching campaign in a wide range of seabed conditions. i-Trench encompasses a Canyon Offshore multi-purpose new-build vessel, a new purpose built tracked mechanical cutting trencher "i-Trencher", the class leading jet trencher "T750-Super-Trencher" and two permanently installed "Triton XLS" work class remotely operated vehicles.
Robin Davies, Subsea 7, commented, "i-Trench provides the ability to schedule multiple trenching tasks in the most efficient manner. This has important benefits in respect of avoiding costly mobilizations / demobilizations and port calls. It also optimizes the use of key construction vessels to suit product availability. We are delighted to embark on this venture with Canyon Offshore which underpins the solid working relationship between both companies and recognizes our joint commitment in relation to health, safety, environment and quality. "
The i-Trencher has been commissioned by Canyon Offshore with Subsea 7's input to the design and capability requirements to match and exceed the current capabilities of subsea ploughs. It is a state-of-the-art hard soils trencher (+500kPa) with cutting and eduction technology capable of pre-trenching, trenching and backfilling umbilicals and flowlines up to 18" in diameter.
Scott Sparks, Canyon Offshore stated "This Agreement between Canyon Offshore and Subsea 7 marks a significant milestone in the development of Canyon Offshore into an integrated hard and soft soils trenching contractor and recognizes the relationship which has developed between the parties over the last three years. By investing in the building of the "i-Trencher" we believe we are offering our customer base the most cost effective comprehensive and technically innovative trenching solution in the marketplace."
