Talisman to Begin Situche Well Evaluation Next Year
Canada's Talisman Energy (NYSE: TLM) will next year evaluate results of the Situche Central 1X well oil discovery in Peru, Talisman senior investor relations manager Christopher LeGallais said at the Enercom oil and gas conference in Denver.
Situche Central 1X is in block 64 in the Marañon basin and was drilled to a depth of 17,738ft (5,407m).
Talisman holds a 25% non-operated interest in block 64 and a 100% operated interest in adjacent block 101, of which 72% is subject to governmental approval, according to the company website. Negotiations are ongoing to farm out interest in block 101.
Earlier this year, Peru's state hydrocarbons promotion agency Perupetro awarded Talisman and Colombia's state oil company Ecopetrol block 134, also in the Marañón basin.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, Talisman also has operations and interests in Colombia and Trinidad & Tobago.
