Reliance and ONGC Each Awarded 9 Blocks in NELP III
Reliance Industries and ONGC were the major winners in the NELP-III licensing round. A consortium of Reliance and Hardy Oil & Gas awarded nine oil exploration blocks - two in shallow water and seven in deep water. One of the blocks awarded to the Reliance consortium is located in the Krishna-Godavari basin where Reliance discovered a major gas field last month.
ONGC was also awarded nine blocks. One block was awarded in partnership with Indian Oil Corporation, and three with Oil India Ltd.
A consortium of Gujarat State Petroleum Corp, Geo-Global India Resources Inc. and Jubilant Enpro Ltd won one offshore block in the Krishna-Godavari basin.
The government has received 45 bids for the 23 blocks which included eight on land, six in shallow waters and offshore and nine deep water blocks.
