New MD for Specialized Management Services Ltd
Specialized Management Services Ltd, provider of Hydraulic Control Systems and Offshore Service has appointed Tony Mansfield as Managing Director as Graham Hacon relinquished the reins in order to establish a new business venture.
Prior to joining the Alderley Group, SMS parent company, Tony who holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers has worked both nationally and internationally for companies such as Kvaerner Process, AMEC Plc, British Nuclear Fuels Plc and Fluor Ltd.
Speaking of his appointment, Tony, formerly the Chairman of SMS says: "SMS is a sound business employing great team of people covering both Great Yarmouth and Aberdeen facilities. I've enjoyed my position as Chairman and I'm looking forward to a more hands on role within the company. We have moved three of our senior managers, Mick Straw, Stuart Brand and Samantha May into executive positions for Supply Chain Management, Projects and Engineering Management and Sales and Marketing Management to maintain the successful day to day running of the company, we're confident this restructuring will maintain our quality of service and offer even more value to our customers and contribute to future growth."
Continued business from Malta Shipyards Ltd and SLP has kept the Operations Team extremely busy, additional scope from BP and major projects for AJS has seen SMS running an on-going recruitment campaign and investment in long term training and development programs for apprentices.
At the end of last year SMS won two prestigious contracts; Shell Starling Hydraulic Power Unit and BG Armada Hydraulic Power Unit. These were the largest of this type of equipment built by SMS and the management team has been delighted with the quality of engineering and the dedication of both the project team and workshop personnel in completing these capital projects without hitch. Early delivery has further established SMS as a leading supplier of hydraulic wellhead equipment.
The SMS Aberdeen facility is developing well with a dedicated Projects Department being run out of the facility, which is already proving to be a positive move with clients such as Kvaerner, Petrofac and Tube - Tec.
The company is looking forward to a positive future in both Great Yarmouth and Aberdeen with Tony at the helm.
