Origin Energy Updates Status of Jingemia 1 Well
The Jungemia 1 well is currently being plugged and abandoned over the lower section of the well after reaching a total measured depth along hole of 2950 meters.
An analysis of the wireline logs and indications while drilling confirm that, although some hydrocarbon shows were encountered throughout the Irwin River Coal Measures section, both this zone and the underlying High Cliff Sandstone are water bearing at the Jingemia location.
It has been agreed by the Joint Venture that the deeper section of the well will now be plugged back and abandoned before a clean up and production testing program is carried out on the Dongara Sandstone oil zone, over which 7” production casing has already been run. The clean up flow is expected to commence in late November and continue for approximately 2 weeks. The production test is expected to follow in first Quarter 2003 once the data from the clean up flow has been interpreted and necessary Joint Venture and Government approvals have been obtained.
