OVL Spuds First Appraisal Well at Najwat Najem in Qatar
ONGC Videsh has spudded its first appraisal well - NN-3 (NNCG) in the Najwat Najem structure offshore Qatar. The well was spudded by a combined crew of OVL and Aban–VII. The Target Drilling Depth is 7457 feet and is planned to be completed in 44 days.
The Najwat Najem oil structure is located in the Arabian Gulf in Offshore Qatar at a distance of about 100 km North East of Doha Port. OVL carried out G&G studies and firmed up two appraisal locations for evaluating the structure and assessing and proving its commerciality. Pre operations Environmental base line study and Environmental Impact Assessment for the area of appraisal drilling was carried out and submitted to the Supreme Council for the Environmental and Natural Reserves. The comprehensive baseline studies carried out were appreciated by the SCENR and subsequently Environmental Authorization for drilling of the two Exploration wells was given to OVL.

It was followed by a review meeting by Mr. Khalid Said Al-Rumaihi, Manager Exploration & EPSA/DPSA Devt, Qatar Petroleum. The meeting was attended by ONGC Videsh Ltd's Qatar and Offshore based personnel deputed to be posted on Rig Aban-VII during the duration of the project.
