FCP Names Pitman Chairman
First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. states the appointment of Mr. Charles Pitman as Chairman of the Board of Directors of FCP with immediate effect. This appointment follows confirmation of the election of Mr. Shane O'Leary as an executive director and Mr. Keith Henry, Mr. Charles Pitman and Mr. Nick Zana as non-executive directors at the Company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders held last week.
Mr. Pitman has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, including 24 years at Amoco Corporation and BP plc. During this time he held a number of senior positions including managing operations in Egypt, Oman, Qatar and the former Soviet Union. Following Amoco's merger with BP he was Regional President, Caspian/Middle East/Egypt and India. In 2000, Mr. Pitman was elected to the Board of NYSE and Nasdaq quoted Apache Corporation, a leading independent oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the United States, Canada, Egypt, Australia, the United Kingdom and Argentina. He is also owner of Shaker Mountain Energy Associates, LLC, a consulting firm, and a non executive Director and Interim Chairman of AIM quoted Urals Energy Public Company Limited, an independent exploration and production company with operations in Russia.
Richard G. Anderson, President and CEO, commented: "I am very pleased that Charles Pitman has agreed to become our Chairman. He has extensive oil and gas experience, which will be beneficial to FCP in the next stage of its development. With the recent election of our other new directors FCP has the relevant Board experience to help it achieve its ambitious objectives as it moves from a pure exploration to a leading exploration and production company."
